Caring for the Environment

Here at Orakei Korako we understand how important it is to look after the environment, our geothermal park is after all a pristine, natural and beautiful place that wouldn't be the same if we didn't. In the park itself we have built all the boardwalks to blend in as naturally as possible with the surrounding environment while enabling you, our visitors, to enjoy a safe and enjoyable journey through the park. All construction work carried out in the Park was built by hand with no heavy equipment damaging the environment. Regular checks of the area for rubbish and potentially dangerous changes to the landscape are carried out.

Of course our responsibilities don't end with the park but extend throughout our operations including the visitor centre and facilities. We recycle all our waste such as plastic, glass, aluminium and engine oils. All cleaning products used are environmentally friendly. We use recycled paper for printing and in our bathrooms. We are continually looking at ways to reduce our carbon footprint. We currently have a Tesla destination charger. Future planning includes providing other EV chargers and upgrading the ferry with an electric motor.

Looking After Our Visitors

Making sure that our visitors are happy is of course just as important as our park, without you we wouldn't even exist. All our staff are trained to provide you with the best possible service. If, for whatever reason, we've not done our job just right and you don't feel like you have been well looked after then we welcome your feedback and complaints. We will always take yourfeedback  seriously and through our processes will ensure that whatever went wrong, we will fix it.  If you have a complaint, you can talk to us at the visitor centre, call us or use our contact form. We also welcome your feedback whether good or bad.
