School Holiday Fun at Orakei Korako

Image of a family enjoying Orakei Korako - one of NZ's best geothermal attractions If you’ve had enough of the kids sitting around looking at screens, why not let them discover The Hidden Valley?

October is a lovely time to visit the Orakei Korako as the days are neither too hor nor too cold, and the geothermal attractions are looking fantastic.

Learn all about New Zealand’s rich geothermal past, and about the way the Ruatapu Cave was sacred to Maori women, whose waiata during marriage and other ceremonies could be heard all the way across the river.

Children love the short ferry ride across Lake Ohakuri to get to the geothermal field, and taking in the gurgling geysers, bubbling mud pools, the vibrant colours of the silica terraces and the breathtakinging crystal clear waters of New Zealand’s only geothermal cave.

Family passes cover two adults and up to six children, and you’re even able to bring the dog for a walk!

See you soon!
